The Situation

SortMyPrep is a question bank for IB students: past papers, mark schemes, and detailed explanations. The demand was there. The market was clear. The problem was the production workflow: every question had to be screenshotted, uploaded, and explained from scratch by a teacher, one question at a time.

The Problem

After years of this process, the question bank only covered papers through 2010, over a decade behind current exam sessions. Every year, the gap widened. The bottleneck wasn’t demand or funding. It was the workflow itself.

What We Built

01

AI pipeline: Google Gemini generates step-by-step explanations for each question

02

Teacher reviews and refines via conversational interface. Guides the AI, doesn’t rewrite

03

Verified content publishes to students. Nothing reaches them without teacher sign-off

04

Self-assessment system generating personalised weak-area maps per student

05

Page-aware AI chatbot, custom test builder, and timed past paper mode

The Outcome

Teacher review time dropped an estimated 70–80% versus writing from scratch. The entire backlog from 2010 to present cleared in 2.5 months. New exam sessions now process within days of release. The backlog can’t return.

The pipeline was the engine. The student features were the product. Both shipped in 2.5 months.
